Pecan nuts are a member of the Hickory family of trees that are native to the south-central united States and parts of Mexico. They natural flourish near the Mississippi River and are widely cultivated in Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia and Texas, while Mexico grows more than half of the annual global crop. They are a nutrient dense nut providing copper, thiamine, zinc and many other vitamins and minerals. A favourite in Southern cooking and baking, they are great on their own, with a pinch of salt, or as a sweet treat. We love to sandwich our organic pitted dates between two pecan halves. Yums-ville!
